United States of Sports: Devin Booker in Phoenix
Devin Booker moved from the snowy winters of Michigan to the endless summers of Phoenix, Arizona in 2015, when he was drafted in the first round to play professional basketball for the Phoenix Suns.
Since arriving in Phoenix, Devin has become a prominent figure in a city that loves sports and all things outdoors.
Devin showed great potential during his one year in college, but it wasn’t until he landed in Phoenix that basketball fans truly knew what a treasure they had found. At just 19, Devin joined LeBron James as the only teenagers in league history with back-to-back 30+ point games. At the end of his first season, Devin was named to the league’s All Rookie First Team. Booker has continued to shine in his 2nd year in the league, recently completing a string of 16 consecutive games in which he scored at least 20 points…the youngest player to ever to achieve this milestone.
At just 20 years old, Devin embodies the youth and energy of a city with an emerging and exciting downtown district and a wealth of outdoor options in a climate he describes as, “always ready for me”. Whether it’s a morning round of golf, or hiking any one of the amazing mountains within a short drive, every day is full of unique opportunities. A great day outside wouldn’t be complete without a world-class meal. CityScape in downtown Phoenix offers Devin some “hidden gems” that he likes to explore with friends, or, when he has family in town, a quiet meal in historic old Scottsdale under the lights is the perfect end to a day full of memories.
Devin’s professional career, along with his love for Phoenix, is just beginning. As the downtown scene continues to grow, so will Devin’s rise in the league that has brought him to this paradise.
