The Ferris wheel was invented in the USA.
Designed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr., for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. A modern marvel, the original wheel stood at 80 meters tall with the ability to take more than 2,100 people for a ride.
The High Roller
Since then, nine big wheels have claimed the largest wheel in the world. Today, the world’s largest Ferris wheel, the High Roller in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 167.6 meters and offers sweeping views of the city as well as the Las Vegas Strip. The big wheel is located at The Linq resort and originally opened in 2014.
