Culinary Experiences
People come to Baton Rouge for many reasons, but they all come to feast on delicious Louisiana cuisine at one of our 400 restaurants. For homemade pastries and gourmet chocolate confections, Strand’s Café is a scrumptious way to rise. Looking for something hip and trendy for lunch or dinner? New tapas restaurants downtown include Restaurant IPO, Blend, and Zolia Bistro. New food trucks are also popping up in Baton Rouge. Craving Creole cuisine? Check out Juban’s or Mansur’s on the Boulevard. Locals and visitors are also big patrons of the Red Stick Farmers Market - every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

From the soulful sounds of Gospel and Blues to Country, Cajun and Zydeco, Baton Rouge has a tune for everyone. Experience the star-studded Bayou Country Superfest held Memorial Day weekend or make history by partaking in the Baton Rouge Blues Festival, one of the oldest Blues festivals in America. Don't miss free outdoor concerts in the spring and fall, such as Sunday in the Park and Live After Five.

Plantation Hopping

Elaborate antebellum homes are a short drive from Baton Rouge such as The Myrtles Plantation, Nottoway Plantation and Houmas House and Gardens. Also, the Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens is home to collections of plantation-era tools, furniture and vehicles.
