Chef Lenny Russo is chef-proprietor of Heartland Restaurant & Farm Direct Market in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, a restaurant and market that celebrates the farmers and food artisans of the Midwest. A three-time finalist nominee for the James Beard Award “Best Chef – Midwest”, Russo received a Charlie Award for Lifetime Achievement, bestowed on him by his industry peers. He has established an extensive network of partnerships with foragers, growers and producers in Minnesota and surrounding states, relying on farm-direct ingredients to create a variety of savoury dishes. Chef Russo’s first cookbook, Heartland: Farm Forward Dishes from the Great Midwest is scheduled to be released in late 2014.
