Chicagoan Art Smith has a love for Southern cuisine thanks to a childhood spent on his family’s farm on the Florida-Georgia border, where he honed his skills making fried green tomatoes and Lowcountry shrimp and grits. After spending 10 years as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef, he brought his culinary talents to the public via four wildly successful restaurants, including his signature Table Fifty-Two in Chicago, Illinois; Washington, D.C.’s Art and Soul; Southern Art and Bourbon Bar in Atlanta, Georgia; and LYFE Kitchen in Palo Alto, California. Smith is also the author of four award-winning cookbooks, including the James Beard Award-winning Back to the Table.
