Our Grand Landscapes Road Trip in Pictures
Our Grand Landscapes road trip stretched from the sandy beaches of San Diego, California, through the red rock deserts of the Southwest and into the blue skies above of Arizona.
The Visit the USA road trips crew, together with Magari Blu’s Ana Maria Junqueira of São Paulo, Brazil, passed through some of the most stunning landscapes in the United States. So, of course, we returned with plenty of amazing photos. Here are some of our favorites.
We started our trip in the southwest corner of the USA, in San Diego. There’s so much to do in this coastal city, including just relaxing on the water. Here’s the view from the Mai Tai yacht we chartered.
After paddle boarding with Surf Diva, we spent some time basking in the sun on San Diego beaches.
San Diego has one of the greatest craft beer scenes in the U.S. We enjoyed drinking a bit of beer — and people watching, too — in the city’s Gaslamp Quarter, a historic neighborhood with hundreds of shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
Open roads, big skies and views of the Pacific Ocean make San Diego an incredible place to kick off a road trip. As you can see, we were pretty excited.
After spending some time tasting wine in Temecula, California, we were eager to see the unique landscape of Joshua Tree National Park. It’s a place that can be stark, moody and beautiful, often all at once.
Our Alamo rental car got a little bit dusty out in the desert, but we made the most of it!
The welcome sign was far from the last neon sign we saw in Las Vegas. We visited the Neon Museum’s Boneyard, which features signs and other relics from the city’s colorful past. It’s fun to see how designs have changed over the years.
It wouldn’t have been a trip to Las Vegas without playing a game of chance. Here, we tried our luck with a slot machine, hoping for a big jackpot — or at least enough money to take another great USA road trip in the future. We didn’t win big this time, but there’s always next time.
The sunsets in the Southwest region of the United States are spectacular. They’re even more so at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
You know what’s just as spectacular as a sunset in the Southwest? A sunrise in the Southwest. Here’s a picture of one in Sedona, Arizona, from the lofty view of our hot air balloon.
Our balloon ride offered incredible views of the grand red rocks of the desert and was an unforgettable final adventure on our Grand Landscapes road trip.
