New England Coast

It has been an incredible week. We drove, sailed, kayaked, scooted, ate (boy, did we eat!), drank, shopped and explored our way up the New England Coast.

We kicked off our trip in the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts where we walked the Freedom Trail, exploredQuincy Market and enjoyed multiple gourmet meals. We could’ve spent the entire week in Boston without seeing the same thing twice, but we had many more sights to see.

We hopped in the car to head to our next stop along the coast, Salem, Massachusetts. Here we enjoyed beautiful weather while taking in all of Salem’s rich history, starting with the historic Hawthorne Hotel and ending with a riveting tour of the Salem Witch Museum. With no time to spare, we left Salem for Marblehead, Massachusetts! We walked along the famous marble beaches, enjoyed a delicious lunch with more laughter than food and even met some local wildlife.

After Marblehead, we spent two action-packed days in PortsmouthNew Hampshire. We explored the city by scooter, boat, foot and kayak— who knew there were so many ways to see a single city? We also learned so much about the city’s history and culture thanks to Strawbery Banke Museum, a tour of the historic Music Hall and our numerous, generous tour guides.

The next leg of our trip brought us to Maine, starting with the huge outlets in Kittery! After shopping to our heart’s content, we left Kittery for Ogunquit, stopping at one of the New England Coast’s many lighthouses along the way. Ogunquit treated us to paddle boarding lessons and American art before we made it to Kennebunk to enjoy delicious Maine seafood and cozy accommodations.

With only one full day left on the trip, we tried to fit in as much of the true Maine experience as possible, starting with a lobstering trip in Portland! After playing lobstermen, we saw yet another gorgeous lighthouse (there’s a reason New England is known for them!) before taking a ride on the Maine Brew Bus! Then, as if the coast was bidding us farewell, we enjoyed a brilliant sunset from aboard a windjammer sailboat.

Our last day together was bittersweet as we made one more stop at L.L. Bean before heading back to where it all began, Boston, Massachusetts, to catch our flights. We enjoyed one last meal together, toasted to our incredible trip and promised to make it back someday very, very soon.
